Past Events

We hosted a powerful and thought-provoking evening with our interactive event, “Who Killed Jesus?” in the fellowship hall. Throughout the night, our youth worked together to solve the mystery, exploring different sins and negative behaviors connected to the story. As the experience unfolded, it became clear that it was not just one act, but the weight of all sin combined that led to the death of Jesus Christ.
In the end, the evening pointed to the truth of the Gospel—that through His sacrifice, we are redeemed and forgiven, as reminded in Ephesians 1:7. It was a meaningful time of reflection, learning, and spiritual growth for everyone involved.

We celebrated Easter Sunday with a powerful reminder of the resurrection of Jesus Christ and the life we have in Him. The service was filled with vibrant worship, uplifting praise, and a message from Pastor Tyrone Newman that clearly pointed to the hope and victory found in our risen Savior. People gathered both in person and online, creating a shared moment of joy, reflection, and faith. It was a beautiful time centered on the love of Christ and the promise of new life.

We had a wonderful time celebrating Easter with our community at Kelby Park (Sunkist Park) in Covina! Families and youth gathered for a fun-filled day of free Easter egg hunts, games, and treats. It was a joy to see so many smiles and to share the love and hope of the season together.
We’re grateful for everyone who joined us and helped make the day so special!

Our youth ministry had an exciting night in downtown Covina as we took part in a fun-filled scavenger hunt! It was a great time of teamwork, laughter, and enjoying good food together. Throughout the evening, we connected with one another while also getting to know the community around our church.
It was a memorable night full of joy and meaningful connection.

Our marriage ministry hosted The Key to a Lasting Relationship, an evening focused on strengthening and encouraging couples. Through meaningful conversations and practical insights, we explored what it takes to build a healthy, Christ-centered marriage. It was a valuable time of connection, growth, and encouragement for everyone who attended.

We gathered for a special church anniversary service celebrating Family Christian Center’s 21 years in ministry. It was a joyful time as we heard a powerful message from our guest speaker, Kerwin Manning of Pasadena Church. Together, we celebrated God’s faithfulness, reflected on the journey, and looked ahead with hope to what He has in store for our church family.

This Christmas season, we had the joy of serving the community of Covina at the annual Christmas parade. With over 15 amazing volunteers, we shared free hot chocolate and warm smiles with everyone who stopped by. We were also honored to pray with and encourage many throughout the evening. It was a beautiful time of connection as we shared God’s love with our city. We’re so grateful for everyone who helped make the night so special.

Family Christian Center’s Thanksgiving Turkey Drive provided free holiday meals to over 40 families in our community. Our congregation generously donated food items, and we partnered with local grocers to ensure every family received a complete Thanksgiving dinner, including a whole turkey, gravy, mashed potatoes, vegetables, cranberry sauce, and more. The event reflected FCC’s commitment to serving families, sharing God’s blessings, and supporting our neighbors in need. It was a joyful day of giving and fellowship as our church family came together to make Thanksgiving brighter for so many.

20th Pastoral Anniversary & Building Dedication
Family Christian Center marked a historic moment in October as we dedicated our new church building after searching for a permanent home for 20 years. The celebration also honored 20 years of faithful pastoral service from Sr. Pastor Tyrone Newman and First Lady Valerie Newman. City of Covina officials, community leaders, and local business owners joined us and shared heartfelt reflections on the positive impact FCC has made since moving into the community. Their words highlighted how God has used our church to bring hope, support, and unity over the past year. Bishop Paul L. Binion delivered an inspiring and timely message centered on the theme “God’s Amazing Blessings.” The day was filled with gratitude, joy, and a renewed sense of purpose as we looked back on God’s faithfulness and looked ahead to all He has in store for our church family.

National Preparedness Month 2025
Adult & Pediatric First Aid/CPR/AED Training
In recognition of National Preparedness Month, 15 members of our church completed American Red Cross certification in Adult/Pediatric First Aid, CPR, and AED. This vital training empowers our community to respond confidently and compassionately in emergencies, demonstrating our commitment to safety, service, and preparedness.

Baptism Service - Summer 2025
Join us in celebrating the highlights from our Summer Baptism Service, where 17 individuals took the incredible step of faith through water baptism. Surrounded by family, friends, and our church community, each person boldly declared their commitment to follow Jesus. It was a powerful day of worship, testimony, and new beginnings in Christ!

Men's Fellowship Breakfast
The Men’s Ministry hosted a powerful Men’s Breakfast this weekend, creating space for fellowship, reflection, and encouragement. Brothers gathered over a hearty meal to share stories, build connections, and be strengthened in faith and purpose. Through honest conversation and uplifting words, the morning reminded us of the importance of brotherhood and spiritual growth. Thank you to all the men who came out, we’re excited for what’s ahead as we continue to walk this journey together!

Mother's Day Service 2025
On May 11, 2025, We gathered for a meaningful Mother’s Day service dedicated to celebrating the women who nurture and guide our families. Our Sr. Pastor, Tyrone Newman shared an inspiring message reminding us of the biblical value and calling of mothers. The service was marked by sincere worship and a spirit of gratitude for the women who pour faith, love, and wisdom into those around them. Each woman present was honored and encouraged. The morning strengthened our commitment to support families and live out God’s Word together.

Fellowship Brunch
The Marriage Ministry hosted a beautiful Fellowship Brunch this weekend, bringing couples together for a time of connection, encouragement, and great food. Over warm conversations and shared experiences, couples reflected on the joys and challenges of marriage in a supportive, faith-filled atmosphere. The event was a reminder of the power of community in strengthening relationships. Thank you to everyone who joined us—we look forward to more opportunities to grow together!

Women's Day Service
On May 11th, 2025, we celebrated the strength, faith, and beauty of women at our annual Women’s Day Service. The sanctuary was filled with vibrant worship, inspiring testimonies, and a spirit of sisterhood that reminded us all: women are a vital force in faith, family, and community.From start to finish, it was a day of honor, empowerment, and joy. Thank you to every woman who serves, leads, nurtures, and uplifts—we see you and we celebrate you.

Easter Egg Hunt

Family Christian Center had an amazing time at our Easter Egg Hunt! Families from across the community came out to enjoy games, crafts, snacks, and of course - a fun-filled egg hunt for the kids.
Big thanks to our youth ministry, Souljah’s 4 Christ, for hosting and to all the volunteers who made it happen. It was a joyful day of fun, fellowship, and sharing God’s love!

Marriage Ministry Night Out
This weekend, ten couples joined our Marriage Ministry for a memorable evening of laughter, heartfelt conversations, and a delicious meal. The event fostered deeper connections, reflection on marriage, and a supportive atmosphere filled with love and encouragement. Thank you to all who attended—we look forward to more gatherings that inspire growth and community!

Spark of Love Toy Drive - 2024
In the spirit of giving, FCC donated 200 unwrapped toys to the Spark of Love Toy Drive, to the Covina Fire Department to brighten the holidays for children in need. This generosity reflects our congregation’s commitment to serving the community. Thank you to all who contributed and to the Covina Fire Department for their partnership!

Back-to-School Supply Drive - 2025
Souljah's for Christ Youth Ministry proudly hosted a Back-to-School Supply Drive to support students in the Covina Valley Unified School District. Members of our church and local community generously donated backpacks, crayons, and other essential school supplies. Our church family volunteered their time to carefully pack each backpack, ensuring that every student would be fully prepared and excited for their first day of school. The event reflected FCC’s commitment to serving our community, encouraging education, and providing practical support to families. It was a joyful day of giving, fellowship, and making a positive impact in the lives of local students.

Graduation Celebration - June 2025
In June, Family Christian Center joyfully celebrated graduates of all ages, from preschool promotions to doctorate degrees. The service recognized each graduate for their perseverance, dedication, and accomplishments, celebrating the milestones they have reached through hard work and faith. FCC is committed to encouraging education and supporting our members as they pursue God-given goals. The morning was filled with gratitude, joy, and prayer, affirming God’s guidance over every graduate’s journey and the bright futures ahead.
